Four of the nation's most prominent organized crime personalities have been apprehended in the United Arab Emirates.

Lyons, Ross McGill, Jamieson and Larwood were reportedly detained on Tuesday.

Law enforcement allege all four are linked to criminality including narcotics trafficking to a feud between rival organized crime groups in the west and the east.

This feud has reportedly resulted in a wave of attacks, firearm incidents and explosions since earlier this year.

Overseas Collaboration

Detectives have been sharing intelligence with law enforcement in the Emirates, where the suspects are all living.

It is not yet known whether authorities in the UK were notified of the Dubai operations in beforehand.

It is unclear whether charges will be filed or whether return steps will be taken to bring the men—who may be regarded a fugitive risk—back to the UK.

Active Investigation

Authorities working on a major anti-gang initiative have so far made 57 apprehensions.

Sources have suggested that the impact of the UAE detentions is immense.

“Each of these individuals are functioning at the upper echelon of illegal enterprises, both at a UK and an global level.”

History of the Suspects

Steven Lyons is the head of a criminal organization that has been engaged in a bloody conflict with a rival clan for decades.

In 2006, he escaped a shooting at a workshop in the city, which ended the life of his relative.

He later moved to Europe before settling in the UAE.

In recent months, Lyons' relative, Lyons Jnr, and Ross Monaghan were murdered in a coastal bar in the Costa del Sol.

Both men had spent the evening attending the Champions League final before they were targeted by a assailant.

A man from England has been charged by law enforcement in connection with the murders, with a full court date scheduled for the coming months.

Authorities have stated there is no indication to suggest the murders in abroad are related to the active feud or that it was orchestrated in the UK.

Further Details

McGill first became recognized to authorities for his actions as a key figure of a football ultras group.

Since March, he has been identified as a key figure in the organized crime rivalry responsible for a string of attacks in both east and western parts of the country.

Steven Larwood is a affiliate of Lyons and previously lived in abroad before relocating to Dubai.

Jamieson, who has resided in the desert city for a number of years, has links to additional criminal figures.

Authorities have not been able to comment on the detentions.

It is believed that diplomatic intervention has not been requested.

Emirati authorities have not issued a statement on the situation.
