Sabotage along with Toenails: Chris Eubank Jr vs Eddie Hearn Showdown
Chris Eubank Jr's complaints toward Conor Benn along with his team led to a news conference building up their rematch to become constant arguing
The 35-year-old boxer, thirty-five, took the chance to assert how Team Benn as well as Hearn tried in order to "undermine" his preparation before their first fight against Benn back in April
Included in multiple allegations, he asserted how Benn's team meddled with his weight management, branding the group as "ruthless" and "uncontrolled"
"His opponents tried every trick possible to try and destroy me during this last fight", Eubank started, "Agreement breaches, penalties, rehydration clauses, interference scales, partial commentary and officiating" – until Eddie Hearn rejected the claims labeling them inaccurate
This Wednesday news conference was the first time Eubank & Benn had seen each other after their initial fight
Eubank was admitted to hospital after the win and mentioned he lost a toenail due to "severe dehydration"
"I have not once listened to this much waffle", the promoter shot back, "Eubank are playing a victim"
These two British rivals are scheduled to battle again this fall, with Benn looking to get payback following his points defeat
This rematch is attempting to recreate the magic of the first match, when the sons from fighting legends Chris Eubank Sr & Nigel Benn clashed in front of 60,000 fans inside the Spurs ground
Chris along with Hearn clashed repeatedly during the lead-up before the first bout, with the former often taunting the promoter each time Hearn spoke
This bad blood has spilled over, as Eubank Jr accusing Benn of going on a "victory tour" despite losing
"I'm saying you now and at this moment, you ain't no champion and he most definitely is not the fan favorite", Eubank declared
"They aren't men of the people" Eubank added, "They are acting. They are pretending like the heroes. Wolves disguised as innocent looks"
Conor Benn refused to take the bait, allowing Eddie Hearn do most of the talking
But, the young fighter vowed to become less "overeager" during their second fight
"I felt as if I was one punch close to victory, but I was always seeking the one punch", Benn explained
After an entire media event filled with squabbling, staredown passed without major drama
Eubank smirked toward Benn, but after the controversial incident recently, there was ample personnel nearby to ensure things civil
'{Hatton had been my idol' – Conor Benn
Before the arguments, there was a poignant homage for multiple-division world champion Hatton
The boxer died on weekend, aged only forty-six
Conor Benn put on a vintage Man City jersey to honour the Manchestrian fighter and an extended moment of silence for Hatton at the start of the event
Talking ahead of the conference, he mentioned how Hatton was a "hero"
"I can't truly process it", he said
"Hatton had been a person that really helped me and also somebody that welcomed me. Like a father figure might"
"He made me feel at home when I lacked a home. He represented a lot to me. Extremely close to me as well as my family"
"Ricky Hatton was an individual I admired personally, he became my hero", Conor added
"He remains an icon. It is still difficult to process. I have no words. My condolences to his loved ones"
