Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of
We already knew that The Simpsons was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.
What Fans Really Want
Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to face off while driving The Homer—the notoriously impractical car the patriarch built himself in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the family's everyday well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since 1989. Even though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an recognizable element of the series. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car
And it's not the only customization item from the series arriving in Rocket League. This limited-time event will additionally feature a set of challenges to earn additional goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to the Simpson residence, and drive a distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"
While the complete list of challenge rewards isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:
- Blinky antenna topper
- Homer's hedge-themed banner
- Garbage-themed wheels
- 20,000 experience points for each challenge
If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also get rims with a television displaying the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a completely new map of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
